An electrical contractor is a licensed business that is allowed to take on electrical work, pull the permit for it, and answer for that work when it is inspected. An electrician is a person with a trade qualification. The two are not the same thing, and only the first one can hold the licence your permit gets filed under. Ours is issued by Technical Safety BC, and it covers every service on this page.
When you are weighing up an electrical company, the contractor licence is the thing worth checking — ask for it in writing before you let anyone near your panel. We work across Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Langley, Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Vancouver and Victoria, and it is the same licence in all nine. Abbotsford is where the office is, and it has its own page for electrical work in the city.
The list
Fourteen services, plus the smaller installation jobs that sit underneath them. If a job needs a permit it gets one, and it is not finished until it passes inspection.
01 The old wiring BC insurers ask about. knob and tube wiring replaced circuit by circuit, with the permit filed and the inspection passed.
02 1960s and 70s aluminum wiring assessed honestly — pigtailed to copper at the devices where that is the right fix, replaced where it is not.
03 More capacity for the loads a modern house actually runs. electrical panel upgrades including the utility coordination nobody warns you about.
04 A dedicated circuit and a real load calculation for EV charger installation — not a plug on a panel that is already full.
05 Ceilings planned on paper before anyone cuts. pot light installation, fixtures and switching, so the drywall opens once.
06 Low-voltage landscape lighting for paths, steps, beds and driveways, wired to survive a BC winter.
07 A tub draws hard and sits in water, so the hot tub wiring gets its own circuit, a reachable disconnect, and every metal part bonded before inspection.
08 Power that stays on when the grid does not. standby generator installation with the transfer switch done right, and the exhaust routed so carbon monoxide goes outside.
Most of this list is residential electrician work, and a lot of it is small. Plenty of the reviews on our profile are single-item calls — one fan, one dead outlet, one new circuit. Those are the jobs that turn into the rewire two years later, so we take them.
The bigger residential work is old wiring, panel capacity, renovations and additions, and chargers for whatever is now parked in the garage.
As a commercial electrician we work in offices, retail units, warehouses and strata buildings. The paperwork a strata or a property manager needs — licence details, access rules, scheduling around the way the space is actually used — gets sorted before the crew turns up, not on the day.
“Since this was a commercial project, they took all the necessary steps to ensure compliance, including verifying their insurance with the strata, confirming their license, and meeting all strata restrictions.”

Before you say yes
Two things decide whether an electrical job goes badly: what was agreed before it started, and whether anybody filed the paperwork.
Nobody can price electrical work off a phone call, and a number given over the phone is a number that changes later. We come and see the job, then you get the scope and the price in writing before anything is touched. On renovations, additions and new projects the consultation is free.
Work in BC that needs an electrical permit gets one, filed with Technical Safety BC under our contractor licence. That permit is what makes an inspection possible, and the inspection is what makes the work provable to anyone who asks later.
The permit and the inspection result are yours. Ask us for them. An insurer, a buyer's home inspector or a strata council eventually will, and "somebody did it a few years ago" is not an answer that helps you.

We had an outstanding experience with The Wire Guys Electrical Ltd.! Their team is incredibly professional, punctual, and highly respectful of your time. We initially hired them to replace the lights in one of our commercial warehouse units, and their fair pricing and excellent service quickly convinced our entire team to proceed with them for the second unit as well. Since this was a commercial project, they took all the necessary steps to ensure compliance, including verifying their insurance with the strata, confirming their license, and meeting all strata restrictions. Their attention to detail and professionalism gave us complete peace of mind. What truly set them apart was their flexibility and commitment to our needs. Since shutting off electricity during working hours wasn’t an option, they went the extra mile to complete the entire job during night shifts, allowing our operations to continue uninterrupted. If you’re looking for a reliable, professional, and customer-focused electrical company, we highly recommend The Wire Guys Electrical Ltd.!
I wanted to install a EV Charger for my car. I was confused between the 240v plug or the wall charger. I contacted Jas, and he recommended the $50 240v adapter. His knowledge about various wall chargers actually helped me save $650. On another note this is the only company that ever cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend these guys.
Jas and his team did a great job installing new landscape lights for us and also fixing the deck lights that haven’t worked in years. They also added another electrical outlet outside on our deck for us which we have been wanting for a while. Efficient and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!!
Jas went above and beyond installing our automatic natural gas powered generator and sump pump electrical installation. Personable, efficient, knowledgeable and went the extra mile in explaining and getting things done. Highly recommend him and his team!
Jas came and set up our electrical for our new hot tub and also helped us out by fixing some of our outlets that weren't working properly. He did a wonderful job and we would recommend him to anybody. He is very professional and also good communication and lets you know everything he is doing.
I am thrilled with the top notch job The Wire Guys (Jas and Guri) did for me - wall plug replacement, troubleshooting & fixing a chronic breaker issue, AND installing the proper support hardware for a ceiling fan. These guys were knowledgeable, polite, thorough, clean, and met their ridiculously reasonable quoted price. Would I recommend them? Absolutely!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
Jas and his team are highly professional and reliable, the pricing is very fair and reasonable. I have used Jas for 3 retrofit/renovation jobs now, 1 of them being fairly large. Highly recommend.
Needed power behind my new fireplace. I fully expected I would have to repair drywall and paint after an electrician was done.Jas arrived same day I called, laid out a plan where no drywall would be disturbed. Appointment made for 2 days later. Arrived on time, Nick and Nanek did a very clean job running line behind baseboards. Everybody was very polite and respectful.
A contractor is the licensed business; an electrician is the qualified person. In BC the contractor licence is what a permit is filed under and what makes the business accountable at inspection. We hold ours with Technical Safety BC. When you are checking someone out, ask for that contractor licence in writing before you book.
Paid electrical work on someone else’s property requires a licensed electrical contractor. The one real exception is a homeowner doing limited work in their own home under a homeowner permit from Technical Safety BC. Work in a rental, a suite you let out, or a strata is not covered by that.
Not as paid work, and not on a permit. A handyman without a contractor licence cannot pull an electrical permit, which means no inspection and no record of the work. That gap is what turns up later during an insurance claim or a house sale.
Check three things you can check yourself: whether the business will confirm its electrical contractor licence in writing, the reviews on a profile you do not control, and whether you get the scope and the price in writing before work starts. Anyone can call themselves reliable. Those three are verifiable.
Both. Strata and property-manager work is normal for us — the licence details and access rules go in before the crew is booked. Landlords and rental properties are the same job with different paperwork.
We come and look, then you get the scope and the price in writing before any work starts. Free consultation on renovations, additions and new projects.
